About Us

Troop 265’s Goals

  • Fulfill the BSA mission to prepare scouts to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law
  • Provide a safe, fun, and educational program that imparts the aims of scouting including character, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership
  • Give the scouts hands-on experiences to learn leadership skills by following the BSA Patrol Method and employing a scout-led program
  • Include an adventurous outdoor program that instills respect and appreciation for nature, and teaches the scouts skills to survive and thrive in the outdoors

Troop Meetings

Troop meetings are held every Monday from 7:00 – 8:00 pm at the Scout HutLamb of God Lutheran Church, 1401 Cross Timbers Rd., Flower Mound, TX.  The Troop does not meet on Mondays following Troop campouts or on LISD holidays.

Activities

Troop activities are all scout-planned and scout-organized, with adult oversight to ensure they are practical, safe and age-appropriate. Troop activities are planned twice a year and reviewed once a month at our PLC.

Equipment

Troop 265 provides all camping equipment (tents, stoves, lanterns, etc.). Camping equipment is assigned to Patrols, and it is up to the patrol to properly maintain the equipment. Scouts are responsible for their personal camping equipment (sleeping bag, flashlight, personal hygiene, etc.).

Funding

Each Scout has a personal Scout account where deposits and expenses are tracked. Expenses include bi-annual Troop dues (typically around $35 twiceper year) which are primarily used to maintain equipment, annual BSA re-chartering fee (around $48), and expenses associated with camping and other activities.

Youth Leaders

Troop 265 averages 50-70 scouts organized into 5 patrols. More than 120 of our Scouts have attained the Eagle rank.  Our scouts begin their informal leadership training as soon as they join the troop through interaction with older trained Scouts, the Scoutmaster, and Assistant Scoutmasters. We provide formal leadership training starting at 2nd Class with Troop and Council-led training.

Adult Leaders

Troop 265 has an active adult leader group with over 20 registered, trained adults in our Troop.  There are many opportunities to help the scouts grow, and parents are always welcome to participate.
