Posted on Feb 25 2021 - 9:03pm

Good Afternoon Scouts and Parents,

It is time for our Annual Spring Mulch Sale! If you RSVP'd to sell mulch this spring, the online order form is ready, your scout's name is on the Troop 265 mulch order form roster, and orders are already coming in!

Click on "read more" to see an email message you can share with family and friends. Of course, it's always a good idea for scouts to personalize the message to make it come to life!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Cox

UPDATED Advancement Requirement Modifications

Posted on Feb 25 2021 - 9:01pm

In response to Covid-related restrictions, some rank advancement requirements were temporarily modified through September 1st.  These modifications have been updated, and details can be found at www.scouting.org/coronavirus/covid-19-faq/.  Here are some highlights, including several adaptations for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks:

  • Video conferencing can be used to meet some merit badge and rank requirements, as long as the scout can learn the requisite skills and knowledge using an online format.  All existing youth protection policies and digital safety guidelines must be followed.
  • Virtual camping (i.e., backyard or solo camping) may satisfy some requirements if it is a direct result of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and is part of a BSA unit-organized unit camping event (i.e., multiple members of the unit are involved and camping simultaneously at remote locations).  All existing youth protection policies and digital safety guidelines must be followed.
  • Swimming requirements for Second Class and First Class ranks have been modified as follows:
    • Second Class requirement 5b and First Class requirement 6a can be deferred through Life rank, but not Eagle.
    • Second Class requirement 5c and First Class requirement 6e can be performed on dry land
  • Camping merit badge requirement 9b is temporarily suspended and scouts can earn this badge without completing requirement 9b.
