Earn the Coin Collecting Merit Badge this Summer

Posted on May 23 2019 - 10:08pm

While you are enjoying your summer vacation, you may be able to earn the coin collecting merit badge. See the attached sheet with summer requirements. For example, if you visit a museum that has a coin or currency exhibit, that will count for Requirement 6a. Just take some photos and write down some notes what the exhibit is about. At the end of summer we will have a 1-2 hour meeting to checkoff the homework and cover the remaining requirements. Contact Mr. White if you have any questions.

No June Court of Honor

Posted on May 23 2019 - 10:03pm

We will not be having our usual small Troop Court of Honor this June. Between trips to Bartle and Philmont, there is not a Monday night available. Merit badges earned at summer camp will be awarded at the next big Court of Honor in September.

Meetings Reminder

Posted on May 23 2019 - 10:03pm

We will not be having any meetings for the next 3 weeks because of Memorial Day and Bartle. This means that there will be no meeting on the following dates:

Need Rank Advancement Before Bartle?

Posted on May 23 2019 - 10:02pm

Each year there always seems to be a few scouts in a panic to rank up days or hours before they leave for Bartle. If you are in need of a rank advancement before Bartle, you have the month of May to get it done. If you are unsure of your status, please check with Mrs. White by phone (214-543-3040 or 972-539-5074) or email susan@whitetwins.com.

Scout Scholarships Available

Posted on May 23 2019 - 10:02pm
The troop has a limited amount of funds available for scholarships to help offset activity costs. The scholarships are for a Scout or Scouts who exemplify scouting and may have need. If you know a Scout who exhibits all the qualities below AND has need, please send their name to the Committee Chair-designate Randy Cone (crcone00@aol.com) in the next few weeks. Besides need, the qualities we look for are:
1. Regularly attends and actively participates in weekly scout meetings,
2. Regularly attends and actively participates in monthly scout camp outs,
3. Regularly attends and actively participates in troop service projects and fund-raising activities, and
4. Displays understanding and applies all aspects of the Scout Oath and Law.
We’re also soliciting donations for the Scholarship Fund as the budget is limited.  If you wish to donate to the fund, please let Randy Cone or Connie Schoenrade know.
