Camp Cards

Posted on Mar 23 2017 - 9:08pm

The 2017 Camp Card Kickoff is beginning…

Mark your calendars for March and April, and more details to follow as they are received.  Our goal is to continue to beat our prior year sales again by 3 – 5%!

There are several notable changes coming in this year’s sale.  The cards are now $10, and Kroger has been replaced by Tom Thumb/Albertsons.    The amount into the scout account will continue to be 50% - so $5/card sold!  Our sale sites include Bass Pro and 2 Tom Thumb sites.

The camp cards are designed to assist scouts in earning their own way – each and every scout can offset his dues and camping fees by participating in this completely risk-free program.  He will earn a 50% commission on the sale of each $10 camp card, either on his own, or in a Troop designated location.

It would be awesome if each scout commits to a minimum of 10 cards!

Annie D’Addio received the cards after the March Roundtable, and will be available at the next few meetings to distribute.  You may also make arrangements to pick cards up from her.  Please contact Annie at a_daddio@mac.com with any questions.

Fly Fishing Merit Badge Opportunity

Posted on Mar 23 2017 - 8:19pm

Do you have a Scout that needs his Fly Fishing Merit Badge? TRWD is offering a class at no charge to encourage scouts to earn their Merit Badges.  Students will rotate through a program that will expose them to a variety of topics from casting to fly tying. The class is free and scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms to the festival. The class will take place 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. Please register for the class by contacting info@trwdflyfest.com.  Register early as this class was very popular last year!

Troop 265 Friends of Scouting Campaign

Posted on Mar 23 2017 - 8:18pm

Troop 265 has started our Friends of Scouting campaign for 2017.  Friends of Scouting helps provide financial support critical to the Longhorn Council. The Council is the local affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that we as a scouting unit belong to. The Longhorn Council provides services to over 800 local scouting units, whether they are Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venturing Crews, or Exploring Posts. These services range from recruiting volunteer leaders, doing background checks, handling conflict that may occur, to owning, maintaining and operating the camping facilities available to us. On most weekends the camp are open and free of charge to us as a member of the Longhorn Council.

Aditionally, we get over $800 a year in free rank and merit badges, because of our participation in this program. That is money that can be spent on equipment or something else for the boys.

If you are able, please consider making a donation by clicking here.
